Gauri Velloor is a graduate student pursuing a PhD in Biophysics. Gauri is originally from Kochi, Kerala, India and has received has received her BS in Chemistry, Post Graduate Diploma from KREA University, and MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine from the University of Southern California. Her previous research analyzed U-15N 13C isotopically labeled fibrils of a recombinant protein called HET-sCT using solid-state NMR spectra to determine changes in protein dynamics and electron microscopy to characterize fibrils and analyze other amyloid fibrils. Gauri’s current research project in the Cavagnero lab involves analyzing the development of a translational-research based method to carry out early detection and treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Some of her hobbies include exploring new food joints, sketching, painting, and watching movies (huge movie buff).
